Don’t let the past define you

Posted on Updated on

imageNever Never Never allow your past to define you. That is why it’s called in the past because it is behind you. The best thing you can do with your past is learn from it and move on. If we all stayed focused on our past then we wouldn’t get anywhere today.

Everyday is a new day and a new chance to make a fresh start. It is not up to the people that have wronged you or things that didn’t go your way. It is all up to YOU!!! Only you can make the change and decide what you want in life and to be happy. When you figure that out then you are ready to roll and nothing can stop you. If you allow the past to hold you back then the past and everyone in it is winning.

So start TODAY!!! Write it on a post it and stick on your bathroom mirror if you must! TODAY IS THE DAY!! I know how I want my life to be and I’m going for it!!!

Take stepping stones if you must – one at a time and eventually they will get easier and easier.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Lovely post, I’m trying hard to focus on the present, but the past always is back, like everything else, I think I need to understand it and then release it, but some things are deeply hidden. So needs time.

Thank you! I have had a very rough past also but I have learned to accept it. I wouldn’t be the strong woman I am today if it wasn’t for my past. Our past does teach us some very valuable lesson if we allow it. I believe we only have two choices. 1. Learn and grow from it or 2. Let it rule or lives and let it destroy us and keep us from being who we are supposed to be.
I will pray that you find peace with your past.

Great post πŸ™‚ A phrase I live by to get through the hard times is “But that was yesterday…” Surprisingly those few words work wonders. Thanks for your inspiration! πŸ™‚ – Jill
